Tillamook Cheese Giveaway

30 Nov

I am very excited to announce the first of many, The Hungry Wife Giveaway!  For this momentis first contest, the good people at Tillamook Cheese have provided some wonderful goodies.  The package includes coupons for free Tillamook Medium Cheese shreds and slices, as well as the iconic 2 lb. Baby Loaf which won Tillamook the Best Medium Cheddar title!  You will also receive a cheese slicer and a heart shaped cookie/sandwich cutter.  I am providing you with coupons for free cheese so this way you can pick up the cheese at your local grocer.  This way your cheese will be fresher then if I mailed it directly to you.

So, now for the directions on how to enter this contest.  All you have to do, is simply leave a comment to this post about what you plan to do with your cheese.  The contest will run from Tuesday November 30 – Friday December 3.  After Friday, I will randomly select one lucky winner and email you.  I will mail out the prizes ASAP, and you can be on your way to making some delicious food with your Tillamook Cheese, like Cheese and Beer Soup, Homemade Mac and Cheese, grilled cheese, Potato Casserole or what ever your favorite cheesy dish is.

Tillamook Cheese is from Tillamook, Oregon and has been around since 1909!  The Tillamook County Creamery Association is a farmer-owned cooperative that includes more than 100 owners who manage herds that average 250 cows per farm.  The Co-op manufactures the No. 2 selling natural chunk cheese in the United States and markets a variety of other cheese and dairy products including premium ice cream, sour cream, yogurt and butter across the country.  Some of the recent awards Tillamook won are: 2010 Wold Championship Cheese Contest Gold Medal, Medium Cheddar ; 2009 National Milk Producers Federation 1st place, Special Reserve Extra Sharp; and 2009 National Milk Producers Federation 1st place, Pepper Jack.

I’m sure you will love this cheese as much as I do, and it will be your new favorite if it isn’t already.

Cheese always adds that “little ‘bit of extra lovin” to any dish. As a snack with fruit, a tad on a comforting bowl of soup, or even winding down at night with a glass of wine and some crackers. I have never had Tillamook cheese, so I may just invite over a few of the girls, have each bring someway we can enjoy the cheese and make it a “cheesey girls night”..

Cheese is such a versatile food… it’s so good by itself as a high protein snack…with crackers…on top of an apple slice…in a casserole… on top of a pizza…mmmmm…just thinking about winning the Tillamook cheese and goodies is making me hungry!

Oooooh, I think my almost 3 year old would porbably get ahold of the cheese before I can do much with it. He has severe allergies and cheese is one food he can have an looooves! If there is any left i’m sure it would be homemeade mac n cheese and maybe some yummy quesadillas on a cold snowy weekend.

My family loves cheese. I like your suggestion of beer and cheese soup. The cold days here are perfect for all types of soups. Maybe make some cheddar biscuits also.

HMMM Cheese! We love to use it in cooking or have slices out with good crackers while dinner is finishing up. It’s also on my list to try your beer and cheese soup recipe, so this would be the motivation I need!

    There’s nothing I don’t love about cheese. :D

You would definitely make this cheese lover happy if I were chosen to win the prize; I have always loved tasting and eating many cheeses when I was stationed over in Europe a few years back and we always have cheeses in our house to eat and cook with, Yum, Yum!!

What would I do with the Tillamook cheese is a very good question. I can honestly say that I have never tasted Tillamook cheese. So first and foremost I would open it up sniff it then take a bit right out of it. Then I would slice my bite out with a knife and eat that to. I have a recipe for a potato bacon cheese soup that I think it would go fantastic in. I also have a recipe for cheesy bacon chicken that it would go good with. Or my favorite slightly melt a little on a plate in the nuke and put it on a burger. Mmmmm. Cheese is good. I even like cheese with chocolate.

After moving to the Pacific Northwest I was introduced to the Tillamook brand and fell in love! I’ve not gone back to other brands since! There is so much you can do with a single baby loaf… I’d make Halibut enchiladas which are so much more delicious with a gooey cheesey filling and topping. As a snack, I’d put thin slices of cheese on crackers and top it off with smoked salmon. Finally, I’d make loaded baked potato soup, accompanied by cheddar scallion biscuits, to keep me warm on these blistering cold winter nights. Of course, as much as I’d want to eat all of this food myself, food is much more enjoyable when shared with friends.

Mmmmm, I love cheese and would love to try this brand!

  27. natasha harth 03. Dec, 2010 at 1:01 pm #

If anyone knows me, they know my love of cheese. After jumping up and down for joy, I would use it to make baked macaroni and cheese, fondue, and grilled cheese sandwiches. That is, with whatever is left after my husband slices it up to eat with crackers. What can I say, we’re cheesey!

  28. rachel 03. Dec, 2010 at 1:09 pm #

I would make my famous cheeseburger cassarole with the cheese. Warm ooey gooey goodness

  29. Jenny Skelton 03. Dec, 2010 at 1:21 pm #

I can only imagine all the wonderful things I could make with this prize. The first would have to be macaroni and cheese. It is such a great comfort food!!!

If I win I would love to try the cheese in the beer and cheddar soup recipe. My hubby and I both love cheese it’s our favorite snack. One of our favorite things it to buy a bunch of cheese and a nice bottle of wine. Cut up some fruit and crusty bread and have some quality time together.

  32. Willa Burrows 03. Dec, 2010 at 10:28 pm #

Since I grew up in Tillamook, OR, I’m always very proud to see Tillamook cheese products being sold or promoted! Home of the Tillamook Cheesemakers (our football team) I am a happy graduate of Tillamook High School. It IS great cheese and if you ever get to Tillamook, definitely visit the cheese factory. They have great samples to try and the ice cream is divine!

Jan, I used to live in Seaside, OR, which is where I was first introduced to Tillamook cheese. I love it, and have actually been to the factory in Tillamook. You are so right, it was a wonderful visit and their ice cream is awesome. I wish their products were easier to find around here.
