Chicken Parmesan is a good recipe everyone should have…or two, as this is the second one found on The Hungry Wife.  Although similar recipes, this one is particularly wonderful for a weeknight meal.  Easy to prepare, I like using thin cut chicken breast halves so I don’t have to pound the chicken thin.

Oriental Chicken Wings

1 Nov

Oriental Chicken Wings is a super flavorful dish, that can be served as an appetizer at a party or as a delicious main dish. Either way, this dish is sure to please.

Last night I was staring in my refrigerator, looking for something to make for dinner.  It was the end of the week, the day before grocery day, and the options were limited.  I had thawed out some chicken pieces earlier, now I just needed to figure out what to do with them.  Flipping through one of my trusty cookbooks, I found the recipe for Oriental Chicken Wings.  I had all the required ingredients (chicken pieces instead of wings, but close enough), and even though it is cooked in a slow cooker, you can make it in two hours.  Perfect.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Layer Cake is sweet and delicious. The frosting tastes exactly like the filling in Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Yum!

Recently I got the opportunity to review some baking products from Naturally Nora.  I asked them to send me the cake and frosting mixes necessary to make their recipe, Peanut Butter Chocolate Layer Cake.  My husband chose this one to fill his sweet tooth craving, and I must admit, chocolate and peanut butter is one of the best dessert flavor combinations.

Root Beer Float Cake

19 Sep

Root Beer Float Cake is a cake mix recipe where water is replaced by root beer. This adds a flavor boost as well as a little extra rise to the cake itself.

I was given the task of supplying a dessert for my husbands company picnic this year.  Last year I brought a strawberry pie, which was excellent and went over really well, but the picnic also took place in June during strawberry season.  Since they moved the picnic to September this year, I decided to come up with something a little different.  Root Beer Float Cake was just what I was looking for.

Filipino-Style London Broil

31 Aug

What makes this Filipino-Style London Broil is the marinade, it is very important to make sure your meat gets the proper rest time in order to soak up all those delicious flavors and help make it tender

When I was growing up, my mother used to make a London Broil similar to this, but she called it Family Steak.  Filipino-Style London Broil is very similar to my mothers recipe, but taken up a notch.  The soy sauce is what really makes this dish, adding that yummy salty flavor.  I am totally in love with the citrus flavor that the lemons provide.  It really helps cut through the salt and makes the steak refreshing to eat.

Grilled Barbecue Sirloin Fajitas

21 Jul

One thing I love about Fajitas are their simplicity.  All you need to make a wonderful meal is a good piece of steak, peppers and onions, tortillas, some cheese, and if desired lettuce, sour cream and a touch of salsa.

Grilled Fajitas are one of my husbands favorite things to eat.  They are easy to make and taste amazing, perfect for a family of four or two.  Don’t let the Barbecue in the title throw you off, it is not talking about the saucy, messy barbecue.  Using the barbecue spice rub on the sirloin and grilling it adds a delicious subtle flavor that totally enhances the Fajitas.

Oatmeal Banana Pancakes

Oatmeal Banana Pancakes are fairly sweet, so you may prefer a fruit topping on them rather than syrup, although good maple syrup is mighty fine on them, too.
