Spiced Tea is a nostalgic drink from my childhood.  My Grandmother would mix up large batches of this tea, and hand it out to family and friends.  When I was sick with a bad cold, a hot cup of Spiced Tea would comfort me, and sooth my sore throat.  I’m so excited to share this special treat with everyone, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Triple Delicious Hot Chocolate

6 Nov

Triple Delicious Hot Chocolate is the perfect solution to cold winter days. Serve it at holiday parties this year, your guests will love it.

With temperatures dropping, there is nothing better than heading indoors and warming up with a mug of Triple Delicious Hot Chocolate.  Seriously, this is without a doubt the most amazing hot chocolate my husband and I have ever had.  It is everything a delicious hot chocolate should be, creamy, sweet, and of course, chocolaty.  Initially my husband wanted me to add in a little extra chocolate, but after some taste testing we decided against it.  Triple Delicious Hot chocolate, has more than enough chocolate just the way it is.

This Green Tea Smoothie is another favorite of ours on hot sunny days.  Fruit of any color is delicious in a smoothie made with green tea, but at The Hungry Wife we lean toward pale green honeydew, and sometimes we add kiwi, too.  Be sure to use a food processor when making smoothies with kiwi: Blenders are more likely to crush the bitter kiwi seeds for this Green Tea Smoothie.

Watermelon Margarita

10 Apr

Watermelon Margarita is super good and refreshing, perfect for a hot summer day. You may also omit the alcohol for a delicious family friendly drink.

Watermelon Margaritas are  super good and refreshing, perfect for a hot summer day.  Unlike some other watermelon margarita recipes out there, this one is just about as pure as you can get it.  This recipe calls for no syrup, and a minimal amount of of sugar.  The only alcohol it incorporates is tequila and triple sec, and you may also omit the alcohol for a delicious family friendly drink.

Whether you drink the watermelon margaritas with or without alcohol, they are nice balance of sweet and tart.  To save some time with the preparation, you can buy pre-cut chunks of fresh watermelon in you grocer’s produce section.  Pre-cut watermelon is usually more expensive, so if you plan to make a few batches of watermelon margaritas, you’re probably better off just buying a whole watermelon.  Even the most macho man will love this watermelon margarita.  Be sure to keep lots of watermelon and limes on hand, for when company drops in.
